Z Brush

Using Z Brush software was better than I thought it would be. At first it looked to complex, I always preferred being hands on so to do everything digital seemed to take the enjoyment out of it. During the first session I managed to create a few shapes that could be recognizable however it did not peak my fancy. I started with the instructed head shape. we focused on basic techniques, adding layers and cutting them away using 'alt'. We isolated sections my clicking 'ctrl'. I changed textures a few times to get a better outlook on my piece.

From this we moved onto figure. This was more complex, we first had to pose the mannequin before editing. When that point was reached are main goal was anatomy. Understand the human body was the key point. I loved this section as I have always enjoyed working with figures. I focused on a previous character design and created a lazy skinny figure dragging himself forward. Although it was a simple pose it was the mussels and brush size that i found hardest to work with. This was due to little practice as it became easier as the session went on.

After that I began working on the bust. I started with a generic head shape and slowly built on it until it resembled the God Poseidon from Greek myth. After the previous session the head and facial

features came out a lot easier. Scott was able to help me with small aspects. I felt this was not enough for my piece so I decided to add a base for him to sit on. I began with a basic cylinder with altered levels and curves. Scott helped me curve the corners of the stand as it was too advanced for me to go at it alone.Once done I used the transformation tool to add detail at set points around the base. I pulled from my research from Religion at the time and used the icon of grapes as representatives of god of blood of Christ in the design.
