With this clay model of the character I was able to accurately begin the costume. I went back to my character design and they style of clothes used at the time. Originally I preferred the design with most colour, however after delving more into traditional archers I felt that the back and white fit better. It would also draw more attraction to the emperor and his wealth in comparison to Yuri's unforgettable clothing

With previous experience in archery I knew the importance of and arm guard. I took additional inspiration from a childhood favorite animation Naruto which features ninjas dressed with wrappings around their arms and ankles to prevent snagging whilst running or during combat. I thought this was a fitting influence to the character.
This worked really well I thought. The technical aspect on lining the clothing and sewing them all together was very new and I found it hard to begin with. However after a first failed attempted (seen in photo 1) I got a bit easier. Textiles is not one of my strongest talents yet I enjoy it so didnt mind the extra effort.
