Unit 5 Animation

Today we began discussing fables we would wish to animate. Our first thoughts were on stories concerning lions as we felt they would be and interesting design and provide many bright colors with with to work. I am interested prominently in character and creature design so look forward to working on that, which is why when choosing the story i wanted one with interesting characters.

During our discussions we looked 1991 The sandman animation. I loved the unsettling atmosphere created by the red and blue lighting and the use of music instead of dialogue. I always considered stories that do not rely on speech very interesting and I hope we decide on a story that can be told with visuals.

We later looked again at the Egalman stag that focuses on the redundancy of time through foam board animation and rich dialogue. This (unlike the Sandman) worked perfectly as it is one monologue informing the audiences on what cannot be seen; such as human thought.
