Design 2

For this design I looked at different elevations and how I could use the wide outdoor area to create more character. I also kept in mind all the materials and textures such as wood and tile and how these could effect the over all aesthetic. I kept the paper shide decorations and opened up the door removing the beads. I did not like this design as the over use of wood closes off the house and breaks away too much from the open buildings and square windows. I wanted them to feature more prominently in the designs as it highlights the connection with nature.

Adding more windows followed my research and would allow the house to be naturally lit. I also added another layer of roof as I felt it heightened the building and would help me explore with different elevation levels. I liked this design as there were many layers that I could work with that would assist in character induction. The fabric hung from the wall and shide paper highlight the respect of character and location upkeep. However I felt I could add more to the design by expanding on levels and elevations.

Revisiting the platform from design 2 and the windows of 3 I created a larger set (not effecting the original location) that encompassed more temples in japan than the ones before. I felt this design reflected my character the most. Someone who is loyal to the house hold, keeping it clean and tidy whilst showing isolation through the elevated balcony surrounding the door. Although some of my previous thoughts dismissed the thought of an elegant lady as character, since going though many designs I have decided how much a tidy and decorated house could say about someone. I think this would also help me build on texture and advance my painting skills, often working in larger scale and messer settings I find this will assist my talents for the future.
