Footprints in the snow

I have always love the art of japan. With many books on the subject and constant admiration for the V&A display I headed straight there on my visit to see what I could find.

This carriage caught my eye and I thought it would be interesting to leave in a scene. As if a Royal character arrived and is currently elsewhere. Beside the carriage was helmets and armor of classical Samurai warriors and extended of my idea it would be interesting to have multiple footprints lead away only leaving the carriage and clips of armor such as a helmet. I thought this would be an interesting concept that leaves the audience wondering who it was.

As it is coming to winter I thought it would be an interesting addition to include snow within the scene. Not only does this create great atmosphere but it also allows me to use footprints and indents in the snow to tell stories. I was reminded of the final fight scene from Kill Bill Volume 1 and how the beauty and calming connotations of snow is contrasted by bloody violence.
